Produce World is a leading provider of fresh vegetables.
The Challenge
- The business had grown by acquisition and each division had different purchasing processes and performance
- As part of a profitability focus it was recognised that processes need to be improved and important spend categories addressed to reduce costs
Our Approach
- We initially applied our benchmarking tools to define the purchasing maturity and the scope for cost reductions in each division
- We then carried out a detailed investigation of purchasing practices and capability in each division
- We also segmented all indirects spend, evaluated purchase costs, and identified priorities
Results
- At the end of the work, Produce World had a clear picture by division of purchasing issues and opportunities
- Over £1M of cost saving opportunities were identified by spend category and an action plan agreed to realise these savings
